Phoebe Philo Style.

One doesn't have to look to far past Phoebe Philo's own personal style to see what influences her modern, sharp, and minimal collections for Céline. She clearly designs for the woman that she herself is; modern, chic, busy. A woman who wants to have a life past her clothes. I think that's what I am most to drawn to in both the Céline collections and Philo's own personal style. Her clothes don't own the person as much as the person owns the clothes. Her calm and clean designs with their subtle creative twists really allow for the woman to be the statement. It's a very confident way to approach style and one that really stands the test of time.

Fall Zara Jacket.

I love the shape and cut of this jacket. I tried it on in black the other night, I think it's a fall must for me.

Fall Céline.

A beautiful Vogue China editorial featuring Céline's fall 2011/12 collection.  I think Céline's pieces hit every mark for fall. The maxi coat, the puffed shaped tops, the leather detailing, the color blocking, there is not an item here I wouldn't kill for. She dresses the modern, sophisticated woman perfectly.

Simple Olsen.

I love how clean and simple this look is. I think I might trade in my silver watch for a gold one.

Hello J. Crew.

I'll always remember my first J. Crew piece. I was 13 and my dad had brought it home from a business trip. It was a pretty bright green tee shirt but of course J. Crew called it "mint".  I had never heard of the color "mint" before. However, after pouring through their catalogue, I was happily introduced to warm sienna, melon, and citrus-pink tanks and cardigans worn by pretty smiling men and woman lounging on their lakeside docks. I was in love.

I still to this day have a quite a fondness for the company and their bright creative colors.  I often post their sharply styled lookbooks in this blog. Today J. Crew opens up its doors in Canada, Toronto's Yorkdale Mall to be exact. So, I thought I would honor the special occasion by posting a few of my favorite shots from their most recent lookbooks, and perhaps provide a little incentive to pay them a visit.

Ps. The first sweater is "Spearmint".

A favorite.

The Sartorialist's new layout is long overdue but well worth the wait. I love how his archived images pop up below the featured shot, it helps remind me of some of my favorite posts. This shot to me is one of his bests. It screams to me just be yourself and wear what you want. A smile like that can wear anything.

More Jil Sander for Uniqlo.

Just came across a new round of images for Jil Sander's last collaboration with Uniqlo. What an incredible lookbook. I was just eyeing a sleeveless Rachel Comey overcoat yesterday, but the one in the second shot would be a perfect and much more affordable alternative.

Stockholm Fashion Week- Altewai.Saome

I seem to be following more and more fashion blogs from Sweden than anywhere else these days. I think their desire for chic and modern practicality is quite relevant at the moment and is why more eyes are starting to focus on their fashion scene. This of course is how my attention was brought to Stockholm's S/S 2012 fashion week which just wrapped up. There were a lot of really great collections (Carin Wester, Hernandez Cornet, Hope) but Aletwai.Saome was the show that really stood out from the pack. Their pieces were a wonderfully interesting combination of modern techno fabrics incorporated into simplistic elegant design. Definitely a designer duo to watch out for.

Fall jumper.

I am drooling over this chunky Jil Sander sweater. That bright green and black combo is divine.
